Polishing Concrete
Beginning the Diamond Grinding Process on a Concrete Floor
What is Concrete Polishing?
Concrete polishing is another great service offered by Pro Maintenance. In many ways concrete polishing is very similar to sanding wood. By using finer and finer diamond coated disks a flooring specialist can deliver varying degrees of shine and smoothness. Polishing concrete brings a natural shine to your floor that will require less maintenance over the years.
What About Colors or Designs?
Concrete is an incredibly versatile material. Concrete can be mixed with a wide variety of colored aggregates to give your floor almost any look you can imagine. By using techniques such as scoring lines, borders or grid like patterns can be added to your concrete floor. Be sure to discuss all of your options with your concrete supplier before deciding on a floor material.
What About Existing Concrete, Is It To Late?
Not necessarily. Polishing existing concrete can be done, but it may require additional steps such as removing dirt, grease, preexisting coatings and any small blemishes before the polishing process can begin. If your existing floor is wavy, very porous or requires extensive or large patching, concrete polishing may not be the best solution for your floor. Pro Maintenance's experienced professionals can evaluate your existing floor to determine if concrete polishing will work for you.
Where Can Polished Concrete be Used?
Almost every industry can benefit from a polished concrete floor. Retail, office space, industrial locations, hotels and restaurants, show rooms and residential homes are just a few examples of where you may find polished concrete floors. Due to polished concrete's low maintenance and diversity more and more industries are realizing the benefits or polished concrete.
What About Safety?
Polished concrete, if kept clean and dry, is typically no more slippery than standard non
polished concrete. If you have a high traffic floor that you want to add additional
protection from slipping and falling, Pro Maintenance can apply anti-slip conditioners after
the polishing process is complete. These anti-slip conditioners can be easily reapplied
simply by mopping them on your polished concrete floor during routine maintenance.
Pro Maintenance proudly serves the Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, South and North Dakota areas.
